Hi, I'm Sophie! I love cats and have lived with them all my life, firstly with family cats whilst growing up, and then becoming an owner myself over 20 years ago. I have a wealth of experience in caring for cats and understanding their individual needs and behaviours.
I enjoy working with people, as reflected by my profession as a career coach, and started cat sitting not only because I love spending time with cats, but also to provide an excellent service and reassurance to other pet parents. I know firsthand the worry experienced when leaving them to go away.
I'm also a keen gardener, growing many flowers and vegetables in my garden, enjoying time in nature away from screens and technology. I wanted to use this experience in my business too, to allow others to go away even during hot spells, safe in the knowledge their plants are being watered and maintained whilst they're away.
After cat sitting via Cat In A Flat for over a year I decided it was time to set up my own independent business, combining two of my favourite things: cats and gardening, and Felines & Flowers was born.
Initial free home visit
Before your booking is confirmed, I will come and visit you in your home at a time convenient to us both. The visit is to meet you, your cat or cats, and to find out everything I need to know to take good care of them.
Detailed care plan
Based on what was discussed in our visit, I'll put together a detailed care plan for you to check and approve before you go away. Looking after your cat is a huge responsibility, so I like to take the time to ensure I have everything down accurately.
During the cat sitting
I aim to really bond with each cat and will spend a good amount of time with them when I visit. I'll send you regular message and photo updates so you can see how they're getting on. As well as providing food and general care, I'll also make sure everything is kept clean, tidy, and secure, and will deal with any accidents or 'gifts' they leave me!
Keys
We'll arrange between us how and when you'll hand your keys over. Please note that I will hang onto your keys until I know you're back rather than pop them through the letter box on my last visit - this is to make sure I can still get into your home to care for and feed your cat in the event you're delayed.
Tia
Tia joined me as a kitten and is now 20 years old. Despite a couple of age-related health conditions (which are being carefully managed), she lives life to the full, enjoying a pampered life snoozing most of the day either on her heated mat inside, or out in the garden on a cushioned chair in the sunshine, and loves cuddles and playing in the evenings.
Ezra
Ezra joined us in June 2021 at a then estimated age of 2.5 (he's now 5ish), and has completed our little family. He was adopted from Wisteria Cat Rescue, who found him as a stray wandering the streets with a broken toe and fixed him up. He still loves the outdoor life and whenever he's not sleeping, he's out gallivanting and getting up to mischief.
Tia is very much the boss (sorry Ezra!)
I'm hugely passionate about cat welfare, and am delighted to support local charity Wisteria Cat Rescue not only on a personal level, but now also through my business.
Felines & Flowers will donate £5 from every booking to support the excellent work of Billy and his team, who save and rehome huge numbers of unwanted and abandoned cats in Kent.
If you would like to find out more about Wisteria Cat Rescue, actively support their work, or adopt a cat, please click on their logo which will take you to their website.
